New Student & Beginner Questions

  • Q: I’m brand new to yoga. Which class should I take?

    • For folks new to yoga, yin or restorative classes can be a great starting place! Most teachers will offer alternative poses that are comfortable, or variations that will push you. You can choose the ones that are most comfortable in your own body!

  • Q: Do I need to be flexible to do yoga?

    • No! Yoga is available to all and you will stretch and gain new flexibility as you continue with your consistent practice.

  • Q: What should I wear and bring to my first class?

    • Comfortable clothing and a water bottle are a good place to start. If you have a yoga mat you can bring it, otherwise most classes will have additional that can be used for the session.

  • Q: What is the proper studio etiquette?

    • Please arrive 5-10 minutes early to give yourself time to get set up and do any pre-class stretching. Ensure your cell phones are on silent mode and be prepared to sink into the class as your instructor begins.

Class Styles and Practice

  • Q: Are your classes heated?

    • Classes are not heated unless explicitly specified as “hot yoga”.

  • Q: How long is a typical class session?

    • Classes typically range from 45-60 minutes, please check the class schedule to confirm before booking.

  • Q: Do you offer private or corporate yoga sessions?

Account, Scheduling, and Logistics

  • Q: How do I sign up for a class?

    • Our Community Yoga Center website includes a full scheduling system. You can browse for available classes and times, book and manage your booked sessions. Classes are typically offered at no-charge, but you can support your Yoga Instructor and the CYC through our donation page.

  • Q: What is your class cancellation or late arrival policy?

    • While there is no charge for most classes, we still often have a limited number of slots available for participants. If your plans change and you can no longer make the class, we kindly ask that you cancel your booking. This can be done by clicking the Change / Cancel Booking link on the confirmation email you received for booking.

    • If you arrive late for class, we just ask that you be respectful to the other participants and get setup and ready to participate without disruption to the class in session.
